Books Arrive! Again!
March 31, 2008 11:04 am PoetryApparently, I knew I would like Sarah Manguso’s The Captain Lands in Paradise so much, I ordered one used copy and one new copy. The used came days ago, and I loved it. I just wrote all about it to my graduate advisor. The new one came from Amazon today.
So the used copy will get shipped to whomever writes the most compelling argument for why he/she deserves a free copy of a Sarah Manguso. Have at it in the comments section.
I also got One Hundred and Forty-Five Stories in a Small Box by Manguso, Dave Eggers, and Deb Olin Unferth.

You need to send me the Manguso. Why? Because I am all anagrammatical. Note the poem called:
Sarah Manguso
O! Sugar Shaman!
Mourns as agha,
sang, “Ah, amours…”
Ragas so human,
ragas so human.
Ragas, so human.

Hi Ross,
Here’s why you need to send me the book.
There’s something magic about the number three. Like the Holy Trinity or three strikes and you’re out. But I only have two so far.
You see, Sarah Manguso’s name has been on two blogs I’ve visited tonight (and before tonight I’d never even heard of her), so if you send me the book that’s be three. And you’ll have taken part in furthering my education, which will make you feel really super. Just like that.
All the best even if you pick somebody else,
Helen

And anyone who writes “that’s be three” needs more education (or at least to proof read more). LOL

My argument sound weak here, but before I decided my Amazon wish list was just too large two of Sarah’s books were on it
