We are in Boone. We made the trek up and went from sorta rainy to sunny to heavy snow. The cool thing about the snow is that the winds are 40-50 mph, so the snow doesn’t appear to be falling, just rushing sideways.

Ladybug had booked for us a more historic Boone place with a fireplace in each room and a hot tub by the pool. We like hot tubs quite a bit. However, I was absolutely inflexible about the requirement that the hotel have Internet access, since I will HAVE TO look at box scores after the UNC game this evening.

Also, we forgot our swimsuits.

So the place that we booked had no Internet. And, crank-case that I am, I said, “Let’s rock!” We pulled into a Comfort Suites just down the road with wireless, paid the same amount, got in the room, and it has a kitchette, a nice sitting area– should we choose to entertain– and a jacuzzi tub in the room. No need for swimsuits, kids. Hells yeah. Assuming there’s no hepatitis in the tub, I think we just made out like bandits.

We also forgot our nice clothes. We laid them out on the bed, and then failed to bring them. So, we stopped at a Marshall’s in Winston-Salem on the way out. Ladybug scored a nice dress for 11 bucks, and I got some of those Van Heusen shirts– the wrinkle-free kind I had bought at Hecht’s for $26– for $13 apiece. So, yeah, I bought more than one!

My greedy little paws are all over this kickass new, shiny toy– my 20 GB iPod arrived today from freeipods.com! Holy crapola, I was so excited getting into that box.

Yes, I had a 20 GB mp3 player that will now become a perfectly servicable portable hard drive. But this iPod device, my friends, it boots so quickly! The click wheel makes it so easy to work with!
