I swear, some people have too much time on their hands. And others have too much brain on their hands.

I have been thinking for a while how cool it would be to display some of the music I am listening to. For a long time, I was coveting a “Now Listening To:” field in my entries, which would have let me mark what I was thinking with what I was listening to (and see if angry entries were always accompanied by angry music, and if Judas Priest really was going to make me kill myself). But I also fancied giving readers a “last ten songs” field, so I could show off what was in the playlist at any given time.

Well, mention it to Wade, and you’re bound to get it. That day.

Wade built a script that allows me to upload my iTunes library.xml file (which is freaking huge, by the way, and takes like 8 minutes to upload), and it goes in and parses out my last ten songs and outputs them to html. He then helped me get coverted to PHP, so I could drop a script in there and pull in the info from the HTML file.

Once I knew how to do that once, doing it again was super-easy, and I am now pulling in upcoming shows to my main page, which should give me far more impetus to update that section of my blog. More ways for stalkers to find me! Yay! —->

We did this last night from about 9 PM to 10:45, which caused some marital strife, I assure you. It’s a poor idea to ignore a hot girl in favor of adding php code to your blog. Lesson learned.
